Builder and developer, Seddon, has built and donated new picnic benches for Alexandra Park in Stockport.
A number of Seddon tradespeople, who are working on the new £11m Aurora Stockport industrial park for Stockport Council, spent a day constructing five brand-new wooden picnic benches to replace existing ones which were in need of replacement.
Labour and materials were provided by Seddon free of charge.
Seddon partnered with local community group, Friends of Alexandra Park, to identify what improvements could be made to park in order to ensure local residents have the best facilities and encourage more people to make greater use of the park.
The Friends of Alexandra Park was formed in September 2016 by local residents wanting to improve the facilities in the Park and create a positive space for all to enjoy.
Jenny Collins, chairperson of Friends of Alexandra Park, said: “The Friends of Alexandra Park would like to thank Seddon for providing materials and labour free of charge to repair the very tired picnic benches around the reservoir. The picnic benches look great and have enhanced the area, so visitors are able to sit and enjoy our lovely park”.
Maggie Heap, community projects manager at Seddon, said: “We’re delighted to be able support community-led projects within the area in which we work. It’s great to be able to give back to the residents of Stockport in this way – and now they have even more reasons to enjoy Alexandra Park.”
