The Seddon team has left the 2018 Bolton Business Awards on a real high, achieving first place in the Community Award category for its involvement with the Bolton Family and a finalist spot with Dale Hibbert’s Apprentice of the Year nomination.
The Bolton Family, made up of over 30 organisations including Seddon, Bolton FM, Warburtons, Bolton Wanderers Foundation Trust, Asda, Keoghs solicitors, Barkers LLP and Barclay’s, works closely with several voluntary and charity sectors across the Bolton region.
Since forming four years ago the group has been involved with several community projects, working closely with charity organisation Urban Outreach to help reduce food poverty, homelessness and unemployment to underpin the Bolton 2030 vision.
After winning the award, Vanessa Barlow, Chair of the Bolton Family and Charity Coordinator at Seddon, said: “This award is a major achievement for all of us and highlights the importance of taking a collaborative approach in order to make the most positive change.
“Critically, the efforts and achievements of The Bolton Family involve not just money but also a commitment in time, energy and ideas to achieve measurable and substantial outputs.
“As a company we’re very proud to have been associated with such a prestigious event and this recognition will only spur us on to work harder.”
Dale Hibbert was also recognised on the night as a finalist in the Apprentice of the Year category. Dale, who joined Seddon as an apprentice in 2015, has gone from strength to strength during his time at the company, from representing Salford City College at the Skillbuild competition to winning the 2018 Apprentice of the Year Award at Seddon.
Dale said: “It was great to be there and to see so many inspirational businesses and individuals in one room. I’m so grateful to have been a nominee in this category and I offer my congratulations to the winner. The nomination is a huge personal achievement and I will continue to work hard at Seddon to achieve my goal of reaching site management.”
