Builder and developer Seddon is set to rejuvenate part of Evesham town centre thanks to a £2.6 million development for Rooftop Housing Group.
The scheme will transform the site of a derelict factory, warehouse and garage on Brick Kiln Street with the construction of 29 affordable flats.
Seddon will begin work on the 11 two bedroom flats and 18 one bedroom flats in August, with the homes expected to be complete by spring 2016.
The much-needed affordable properties have been designed to fit the style of existing homes in the area and the surrounding environment.
Seddon previously delivered a 49-home, £5.9 million specialist housing scheme for older residents in Coleford, Gloucestershire for Rooftop Housing in December 2013.
David Hannon, Development Director at Rooftop Housing Group, said: "We’re delighted to be working with Seddon on this much-needed project. Together we will be delivering high quality, affordable homes and helping to ensure that market towns such as Evesham remain viable, and attractive places to live and work.”
The scheme follows Seddon’s appointment to the Central Housing Investment Consortium’s £63 million planned maintenance framework for housing associations across the Midlands region.
Eamonn Burns, Regional Director for the Midlands at Seddon, said: "It is well documented that the housing crisis hits people living in rural and semi-rural areas the hardest. Schemes like the Brick Kiln Street development are vital to ensure that people living outside of urban areas are able to afford homes close to their families and work.
"Seddon is renowned for delivering high-quality developments for social housing providers and we are excited to start work on this scheme, which will blend seamlessly into the surrounding area.”
