Seddon to deliver £9m Runcorn housing development

Builder and developer Seddon has teamed up with a leading housing association to deliver a £9.4 million contract to build 95 homes on the site of a former Runcorn school.

The £190 million turnover firm has partnered with Cheshire based social landlord Halton Housing Trust to deliver the scheme.

The project is set to deliver 24 one-bed apartments alongside 45 two bedroom and 14 three bedroom houses for social rent, with a further 12 three-bed houses for market sale.

The properties will be built on the former infant, junior and nursery school site on Latham Avenue, which closed after a merger with a local Comprehensive to become The Grange, a school catering for children aged five to 16.

The 83 properties for social rent will be managed by Halton Housing Trust, with the remaining 12 homes for sale to be marketed by Seddon Homes, the construction group’s sister company.

Work has already begun on the scheme, which has been designed by PRP architects, and is set for completion in December 2017.

Duncan Williams, Regional Director for the North West at Seddon, said:

"This latest project with Halton Housing to build 95 quality homes for local people in Runcorn is another good example of how we work with the sector to find solutions for new build projects.

"Seddon has a fantastic pedigree in delivering schemes for social housing providers - we have secured around £31 million of social housing contracts over the past 12 months, and have also won positions with all the major frameworks in the sector.”

Nicky Harris, Development Manager at Halton Housing Trust, said:

"The work at Latham Avenue is one of the largest schemes we have embarked on in Runcorn. It will provide a mix of much needed homes, from apartments to three bedroom houses. Some will be available for sale through Seddon Homes, which is exciting news for the community.  We are delighted to be working with Seddon again and are confident we will deliver a high quality scheme”.
