Seddon has been appointed to design and deliver the first flagship City Place office development, which is set to kick start the creation of a new Central Business Quarter near Chester’s railway station.
The building and development firm was selected by Muse Developments to construct the six storey, 70,000 sq ft state-of-the-art Grade A office facility and is set to begin work in June 2014.
The office block will be the first phase of Muse’s City Place regeneration project, which will eventually see a new Central Business Quarter created with 440,000 sq ft of office space on 3.5 acres of land between the railway station and the Shropshire Union Canal.
The building itself will be constructed to achieve BREEAM Excellent rating, utilising sustainable materials and construction techniques to minimise the impact on the local environment.
The office block will feature a large ground floor foyer and reception area topped with five upper office floors, each centred round a core area to provide flexible, multi-purpose spaces.
Construction of surface level and basement car parking will also be undertaken, along with external works including drainage and hard and soft landscaping.

The project will also be complemented with a new public realm, which will provide an open space for office workers and the public, and directly link Chester’s railway station to the Shropshire Union Canal. The development firm expects to complete the first phase of the scheme by October 2015.
