Seddon builds team in the Midlands as it eyes growth

Builder and developer Seddon has continued the expansion of its Midlands team with the appointment of two development managers as it eyes growth in the region and moves to new offices in Birmingham.

John Booth joins the firm from Balfour Beatty where he held a similar role for 15 years, while Stephen Manners joins from Birmingham Metropolitan College, where he worked as Head of Capital Development and Acquisitions.

Booth will head up Seddon’s social housing development in the region, while Manners is looking to grow Seddon’s commercial turnover as the company looks to a blended portfolio of contracts including development work.

The pair will work alongside Business Development Manager Neil Turley to find joint venture and land-led opportunities across the region.

"Seddon has enjoyed a huge amount of growth and success in the region over the past year, and I’m looking forward to continuing that journey,” said Stephen Manners.

"We’re bringing forward a number of schemes and are keen to meet with landowners interested in working in partnership to unlock developments.

"There is a huge amount of potential to get the Midlands building and grow the region’s economy.” 

John Booth added: "Seddon has delivered numerous new build social housing contracts across the Midlands, success which I am keen to build on as part of my new role.

"Seddon has a long heritage in the industry and has the capital behind it to be able to deliver joint venture and land-led opportunities with housing associations across the region.”

Seddon has outlined ambitious plans for the region with a string of high-profile appointments including Eamonn Burns from Wilmott Dixon as Regional Director - who will head up its operations in Birmingham and Stoke – and former Balfour Beatty Regional Managing Director Steve Davies as Commercial Director for the Midlands.

Seddon has also completed the purchase of 4,000 square foot of office space in Birmingham, cementing its presence in the region.

The company is set to relocate its West Midlands based staff to the new building at Birmingham Business Park in August this year.
