Seddon appointed to deliver £6.7 million Cheshire housebuilding projects

Seddon has begun work on two projects for Equity Housing Group, which will deliver 62 homes across Winsford and Barnton in Cheshire.

The contracts, worth a total £6.7 million, will see the firm build family homes for sale, affordable rent and shared ownership.

A £4.2 million project in Barnton, near Northwich, has seen Seddon partner with the housing group to build 40 two and three bedroom family homes on the site of a former Royal British Legion centre on Meadow Drive.

Half of the properties will be owned and managed by Equity Housing Group, and the remaining 20 homes are set for sale by ID4Living.

Of the 20 properties owned by Equity, which are part funded by the Homes and Communities Agency, 12 will be for affordable rent and a further eight will be for shared ownership.

Work is due to be completed in July 2017.

David Fisher, CEO at Equity Housing Group, said: "We are delighted to partner with Seddon again to deliver much needed affordable housing on land secured through our strong relationship with Cheshire West Council.”

A second £2.5 million development for the housing association on Leaf Lane in Winsford will see Seddon build 22 two and three bedroom homes. Of these, 16 will be set for affordable rent and six for Shared Ownership.

The properties, which are to be built on the site of a former school, will be owned and managed by Equity and are expected to be completed in January 2017.

Duncan Williams, North West Regional Director for Housing at Seddon said: "Our latest partnership with a social landlord is another example of how we can work with the sector to find solutions for new build projects.

"We have an incredibly strong heritage in the sector, having delivered schemes for the past 100 years and won £40 million worth of contracts in the past 12 months alone.

"It is great to be working with Equity again having successfully completed 66 new homes for them on their Chapel-en-le-Frith development in Derbyshire at the end of 2015.”
