Builder and developer, Seddon, has begun work on a £2.4 million affordable housing development scheme in Netherton, Liverpool.
The £200-million turnover firm is constructing 26 new homes for Chorley Community Housing, part of North West-based Adactus Housing Group, at the ‘Z Blocks’ site located between Buckley Hill Lane and Great Hey.
The contract was won by Seddon through competitive tender.
The area of land has remained vacant and unused since the existing buildings were demolished in 2007.
The development comprises 16 two, three and four-bedroom bungalows and 10 apartments, all for affordable rent.
Works on the second phase of the scheme, the construction of a further 31 homes with a total value of £3.2m for Adactus Housing Association, are also underway and will progress over the coming months.
For the duration of the build Seddon is getting involved in community projects, and has so far carried out health and safety talks at two local primary schools, as well as running a poster competition and a site visit for the children in July.
Work on the scheme is now underway and the first phase is set to be completed by February 2018.
