'Meet the Buyer' event in Telford highlights work and training opportunities

As part of an exciting £60 million partnership between Sanctuary Group and national construction specialist Seddon, local construction contractors and suppliers will have the chance to find out about work and training opportunities at a ‘Meet the Buyer’ event.

The event on Thursday, 8 August, from 8.30am to 12.00pm at the Whitehouse Hotel, Watling Street,Telford, is being organised by Stoke-based firm Seddon in partnership with Telford and Wrekin Council and is supported by leading housing and care provider Sanctuary. Other organisations taking part will include industry training body CITB and training provider JTL.

Over four years, Sanctuary is developing more than 800 affordable new homes across the Midlands. These developments form part of Sanctuary’s £750 million investment programme by which it is set to deliver more than 5,000 homes across the UK. This is going ahead with an investment of nearly £90 million from the Homes and Communities Agency’s Affordable Homes Programme.

The Meet the Buyer event will highlight the business and training opportunities generated by the programme including those for individuals, local communities, contractors and suppliers. Sanctuary is committed to creating new jobs and apprenticeships across all their developments. A number of apprentices will be taken on through the partnership with Seddon over the course of the programme.

Rowan Kirk, Sanctuary’s director of development – operations says: "This £60 million partnership between Sanctuary and Seddon will bring a multitude of benefits to the Midlands area, creating a boost in job opportunities and training at each of the new development sites. The event in Telford will be a great chance for local people and businesses to discover the opportunities that will become available through our work with Seddon.”
